The unique collaboration between GBAC and GHA for hotel accreditation is designed to leverage your organization’s strengths to benefit your hotel and guest experience around the globe by: 

  • Providing a third-party survey review and trusted co-branded GBAC/GHA STAR™ seal to accredited hotels that builds trust, confidence, and comfort for medical travel guests.
  • Assisting medical travel guests to understand and use appropriate safety protocols for travel and accommodation prior to and post travel, as well as during treatment.
  • Assuring guests that the hotel has been cleaned and disinfected to the highest standards.
  • Providing assurance to medical traveler guests that the hotel meets the cultural, dietary, religious, handicapped access, and other unique needs of the guests/patients.
  • Instilling peace of mind that proper cleaning is an ongoing facility management priority.

The Accreditation Process

This virtual accreditation is simple, quick, and painless for hotels and resorts that need to gain the trust of guests in a time where health and wellness is at the forefront of travel.

Facility submits application

An application will be completed by the facility upon the decision to move forward with the accreditation process and a deposit will be taken to continue.

Facility receives guidelines

Standards and guidelines will be sent to the facility to ensure qualifications are met and necessary refinements are made.

Facility reviewed by accreditation board

The co-staffed review board undergoes an analysis and approval of the facility based on the guidelines.

Facility is officially accredited

The facility becomes officially accredited and receives the official seals once final payment is made.

Accreditation Standards

The GHA component of the co-branded GBAC/GHA STAR™ Program for hotels serving medical travel/tourism guests is based on 18 elements. This Implementation Guidance document is structured in a manner where specific requirements which are referred to as the “18 elements” are stated in a frame-box with the guidance and interpretation beneath. Guidance has been provided as an aid in interpreting these requirements.

Does your resort need accreditation in sanitation? The GBAC STAR Accreditation Program is performance-based and designed to help facilities establish a comprehensive system of cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention for their staff and their building.

The program relies on GBAC’s comprehensive training, which teaches the proper protocols, correct disinfection techniques, and cleaning best practices for biohazard situations like the novel coronavirus.
